About Laura

My parents both worked in the aviation industry, so perhaps that's where it began. From family holidays building sandcastles in Mallorca, to surviving student backpacking around Europe, stints in Paris and the Loire for a French degree, and post-graduate studies in wildlife tourism, I began a career in journalism. Now, I combine travel commissions with my life on a Dutch barge living on the Thames in London.
Around the world, hospitality has never been as dynamic, exciting, insightful and accessible as it is now, and that's what's so compulsive. Whether it's a luxurious resort in the Indian Ocean, a rustic boutique hotel in Cornwall or inviting visitors to discover a region through its wine, the travel business attracts talented, passionate people, focussed on making our holidays - the joyful punctuations to the working year - so memorable.
Many of my articles are archived here, but also check out my blog, email me or find me on Twitter @lauraivill and Instagram. Cheers!
